James Isaac Elliott is the Chair of the Songwriting Department at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. Also an award-winning songwriter, Elliott’s compositions have been recorded by Steven Curtis Chapman, The Oak Ridge Boys, Newsong, Shenandoah, Ginny Owens, The Blackwood Brothers, Kenny and Amanda Smith, Mark Schultz, Triona and others. His honors include a Dove Award and multiple awards from ASCAP, American Songwriter Magazine and the Nashville Songwriters Association International. Elliott’s songs have been included on 5 Grammy Award winning albums. In 2018 he received the Wild West Songwriters Festival A.J. Masters Dedication to the Craft Award. He’s co-written 13 Top Ten radio singles and 6 number ones including “His Eyes” and “The Change” by Steven Curtis Chapman.
