The son of a respected grand ole opry drummer, Jaren Johnston literally grew up backstage at Nashville’s illustrious grand ole opry. He first followed in his dad's footsteps by playing drums, but soon decided to follow his father's advice instead: "if you want to pay the bills, you play the drums. if you want to make a living, you'll learn how to write songs." and with that, a young Johnston picked up the guitar and began to hone his songwriting skills. "if you're playing any kind of music in Nashville, you really can't get away with having a bad song because people around here will notice, and they will call you out on it in a heartbeat," explains Johnston, which is what has propelled him to be so prolific.
Jaren was first known as the lead-singer for warner bros. rock band, American bang, a wildly talented gang of young rock 'n rollers. in 2010, they released their self-titled debut album produced by legendary bob rock, which included the singles "wild and young" and "whiskey walk" . After a separation from the label, the band became a trio called the Cadillac black. TCB is wrapping up their first tour w/ Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZ Top. They will be on the blood sweat & beers tour as well as Dierks Bentley's country and cold cans tour in 2012.
Jaren has also proven himself a very viable and talented writer. he has had cuts by Lynyrd Skynyrd, meatloaf, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Dierks Bentley, Sara Evans, Casey James, Thomas Rhett, Frankie Ballard, including Keith Urban's most recent two week billboard #1hit "you gonna fly".
